The days of listening to stories on a granny's lap have gone because these days grannies are all in the women's clubs , playing cards or at the bank every other day, signing for pension. We don't find any leisurely granny willing to story tell. Our children are now hooked on to the tv sets because the grannies can never bring alive the sound and animation thrillers that the kids channels are full of.
We have supermen and women saving the world from disaster(Jetix) that kids can never tire off. They become the super men and try to jump from roof tops with disastrous results. There was one boy in our neighborhood who tried to imitate one of those supermen and jumped into a canal, aiming to save his fallen revolver, with the customary screams of a hero. But got caught in the waters and was removed as a dead corpse. The supermen Dhamaka are creating a furore that takes away  the lives of children like moths and flies getting crushed in no time. The fire that is kindled is backed up with a child's  thoughtless energy and there they go again.
And I am not surprised if every neighborhood has a tale of  some kids' lost lives, broken limbs or atleast cuts and bruises on account of  misplaced adventures.
